Who are we?

We are a representative body for our member river associations, which comprise riparian and fishing right owners, anglers and environmentalists, who often work alongside conservation experts and organisations to achieve the shared goal of improving the wellbeing of our rivers and river life.

Our Purpose

To represent and support member river associations of the south west of England in the stewardship and conservation of their rivers and their native flora and fauna, to ensure that riparian and fishing rights are properly protected while promoting freshwater game angling.

How will we do it?

By providing a forum to enable member associations to develop unified policies and views on matters of common interest, representing these to local and national government, the Environment Agency, Natural England and other regulatory bodies, water and sewerage companies, and the public, whilst working with other environmentally focused groups to develop and further common aims.

We will also deal with relevant matters on behalf of individual member associations and provide support if requested including developing regional solutions to common problems & fundraise in order to provide financial support to in-river initiatives for the benefit of SWRA member rivers, or for other relevant purposes…
